Deionized vs. Reverse Osmosis: What’s the Difference?

  • Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water: Filtered through a semipermeable membrane, RO water removes 90–99% of dissolved minerals, salts, and other large contaminants—without chemicals. It’s a powerful first step toward ultra-clean water that’s safe and effective.

  • Deionized (DI) Water: Strips out ionized salts and minerals using a resin bed, producing ultra-pure water. However, trace non-mineral particles and gases can remain—and maintaining DI systems typically requires more chemicals and waste.
